A 1970 Simplicity, a Seventeen Fashion Icon, and a Feathered Friend

From 1970, Simplicity 8697 (special thanks to etsy-er Sew Vintage Now for having the pattern available for purchase!) with a popular 1960's Seventeen magazine model, Colleen Corby:

My version of Simplicity 8697 in an "ikat -like print" ITY knit from fabric.com. I like the scoop neck and the elongated bust darts.  The pattern was missing the front piece and sleeve piece of view "3". I used the front of views 1 and 2, that have the center front basted at the center to form a pleat and turned to the right to create a faux opening with buttons added to complete the look. I used the long sleeve piece of the other view and shortened it.

I omitted the back zipper due to working with a knit, and I also added a lower band.
