I have found many cute vintage patterns from the 60's /70's on ebay.
Just to do something out of the ordinary, I thanked a fellow ebayer for a very pleasant experience on ebay - must be that southern hospitality that she exuded in her note of thanks sent with the patterns I received last month and in her emails confirming the ebay transactions.
I thought I send her a picture (through my review link at PR: http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/readreview.pl?readreview=1&reviewnum=16899) of my dress created from one of her patterns that she sold me (apparently the last vintage patterns she was selling) as a fun and friendly gesture. I was not certain as to how she would react - but there's no harm!

Those were the first words that came out of my mouth when I saw the picture, what a WONDERFUL job you did on that! I really like it for me, LOL. You picked out a great material design too, it looks SO retro! I love that, I wish I had that kind of patience and talent. I am so happy to see what you have done with the pattern. I have always wondered that, being that these patterns that I had were old and all, I wasn't sure if people were actually still making stuff with them or just collecting them. I know that many of those styles have come back but I really did not think that anyone had the patience anymore to sit and 'sew' something to wear when you can just pick something up at the store. As I was selling the patterns it occured to me that nobody really sews anymore and I found that sad really. The good old days was filled with simple things like sewing your own clothes, it is a shame that western civilization has grown away from these simple things. I am not a sewer myself because I grew up in a different era where sewing was already getting to be a rare past time. But when I was selling these, I thought of how fun it would be to sew your own clothes and accessories. You can pick out your own material, designs and everything. I am so glad you sent me that picture, it is wonderful. It really makes me happy to know that there are still some skilled sewers out there. Well I am so glad for you and I know your stuff is going to sell well, god bless you.

When I was browsing the Saks Fifth Avenue website a few weeks ago, I discovered this blazer or button down blouse. The big collar look is back!
I used flowered smiley buttons for the front:
Here's the completed blouse. This took me two full evenings to make! I thought it would be easier! No wonder I have been avoiding outfits with interfacing and collars! But it is good to tackle such a project!
I knew I saw that collared look somewhere!
