I liked the necklines in these patterns.
Pictured on the left are something for my 7 year old daughter. In the center is popular 60's supermodel (notably for Seventeen) Colleen Corby in a tunic length vest. I like the collar of the white shirt on possibly a Simplicity pattern from the early 1960's.
These styles look like inspirations for current Tory Burch tunics.
